Explicit direction
One-way synchronization avoids ambiguous conflict resolution and makes user intent inspectable.
Python · Tkinter · Current v0.10.0 release
A Windows utility that turns a risky file operation into a reviewable workflow: compare, understand, select, preview, confirm, synchronize, and audit.
The problem
In shared-file environments, a copy can replace newer work or move files in the wrong direction. TraceSync compares first, shows differences, requires a direction, previews exact changes, and asks for confirmation.
Engineering decisions
One-way synchronization avoids ambiguous conflict resolution and makes user intent inspectable.
Only reviewed, eligible files enter a job; per-file selection preserves operator control.
Source and destination metadata are checked again immediately before each copy.
Execution results remain truthful even when final history persistence fails.
v0.10.0 interface
These captures come from the tagged v0.10.0 release and use representative office documents.

v0.10.0 scope: manual one-way synchronization only. Automatic runs, active cloud providers, bidirectional conflict resolution, backup, and rollback are not included.
Verified Windows builds
Both downloads are unsigned, portable Windows x64 executables built from their tagged source. v0.10.0 keeps the v0.9.1 synchronization safeguards and adds Saved Folder Pairs for recurring Local ↔ Server workflows.

Architecture
Verification
Coverage spans comparison confidence, Folder Pairs, preview selection, copy safety, settings, UI behavior, persistence, export, and history recovery.
Versioned JSON records use validated identities, interrupted-run recovery, and bounded retention.
Export protects spreadsheet users against formula injection and includes only the selected run.
A per-user operating-system lock prevents overlapping synchronization jobs without claiming distributed locking.
